Tour de France

Waiting for the Tour de France

The city of Florence is eagerly preparing for the start of the Tour de France 2024, scheduled for June 29th with the first stage "Florence - Rimini". This historic event marks the first time in the Tour's long history that the race starts in Italy. The first three stages will be dedicated to *three past champions: Gino Bartali, Marco Pantani, and Fausto Coppi.

On March 21st, one hundred days prima the Grand Départ, a stage was set up in Piazza Repubblica with a clock that marks the countdown from departure in real time: June 29th.

While the official presentation of the teams will be held at Piazzale Michelangelo on June 27, the start of the Tour will instead be on June 29. The cyclists will start, in a parade, from the Cascine Park to reach the historic center (Piazza Duomo, Piazza Signoria, Ponte Vecchio) then climbing towards Piazzale Michelangelo; from there the descent along Viale dei Colli, passing through Piazza Gino Bartali (not far from the Cycling Museum, named after the great champion, in Ponte a Ema) until reaching the Viola Park (Head quarter of the Fiorentina football team) in Bagno a Ripoli, from where the real race will begin own. The route in Tuscan territory continues touching the following municipalities: Pontassieve, Pelago, Rufina, Dicomano and San Godenzo (in Mugello, in honor of the champion Gastone Nencini).
