On the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of the Great Poet, the Uffizi is offering
a virtual exhibition dedicated to the 88 drawings cycle known as Dante Istoriato by Federico Zuccari.
Completed between 1586 and 1588 in Spain by the author of the frescoes in the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore, the cycle fully illustrates Dante's Comedy, equal only to Sandro Botticelli's and Gustave Doré's 19th-century cycle.
In addition to the drawings, texts and comments wrote by the painter on the verso of the sheets are also available. Moreover, Rai and Gallerie degli Uffizi have been working in partnership to make this virtual exhibition accessible to more people, in particular those with visual disabilities, and created audio descriptions of the 92 artworks included in the exhibition. The audio descriptions will be available from March 25th on the section special visits of the official Website of the Uffizi.
