From 19 March 2021 the facade of Florence's Palazzo Strozzi will be transformed by the acclaimed French contemporary artist JR who will reinterpret the facade of the Renaissance palazzo with a new site-specific installation, entitled La Ferita (The Wound), designed to trigger a thought-provoking debate on the accessibility of culture in the age Covid-19.
Palazzo Strozzi is unique for its determination to forge a dialogue between the classic and the contemporary throgh the involvement of artists capable of interpreting the present. Amid the current difficulties we all face when seeking opportunities to enjoy art in traditional venues, the decision to create an artwork that everyone can see on the facade of Palazzo Strozzi can be seen both as an invitation to rediscover a direct relationship with art and as an encouragement to explore new forms of sharing and participation.

From 19 March 2021 the new site-specific installation by the French artist JR entitled La Ferita (The Wound), re-images the facade of Palazzo Strozzi.
JR has created monumental photographic collages that have inspired audiences around the world. JR's research merges originality and appropriation, standing out for its strong public and participatory character and leading him to create works with an intense visual impact in spaces from the favelas in Rio de Janeiro to the Louvre in Paris; Ellis Island in New York to Tehachapi maximum security prison in California.
