The new festival Grindhouse - The new European Genre Cinema is coming, dedicated to genre cinema, starts at the Astra. On the programme are 8 European auteur films including thrillers, horror and science fiction, selected among the best recent titles, often without a theatrical release and not yet available on online platforms.
The films, scheduled from March to May 2023, will be the protagonists of a real competition, imagined as a tournament with "semifinal" and "final" competitions.
The winner will be chosen by the audience in the auditorium who, at each screening, will give a vote to the film they have just seen. The votes will then be added together from all the cinemas involved in the project, in Italy and Slovenia.
All films will be screened in the original version with Italian subtitles.
