Devoted to Lisetta Carmi, one of the most interesting personalities linked to the photography world and who recently passed away , is the first of the three major photographic exhibitions of Grande Fotografia Italiana, a three-year project resulting from the agreement signed between CR Firenze and Intesa Sanpaolo.
Lisetta Carmi. Suonare Forte opens the first of these events dedicated to great Italian photography of the 20th century. The title of the exhibition refers to her training as a pianist, but also to her courage to change direction, to take different paths, to follow her stubborn desire to give voice to the excluded, through different photographic cycles and techniques that deal with the most disparate themes: working-class labour, the life of cross-dressers, the chaos of Paris metro, life and death.
The exhibition includes shots taken between the 1960s and 1970s: from the extraordinary reportage on the world of cross-dressers, the only one of its kind (published in the 1970s in a book that has now become a cult) with black-and-white and colour images, to the childbirth series, from the photographic works dedicated to the world of work in Italy to the one of the meeting with Ezra Pound.
