The Nights of Archeology - 2026

From July 1 to August 2, 2026 thanks to the “Archaeology Nights,” we are invited to discover a past that unites a divided world. Tuscany’s vast archaeological heritage “opens up” to visitors, primarily in the evening or at night, combining the mystery of the past with the charm of twilight. The program of events, which involves museums and archaeological sites throughout Tuscany, features unmissable offerings in Florence and the surrounding area as well.

The Florentine Civic Museums, Palazzo Medici Riccardi, and the MUS.E Foundation participate in the “Archaeology Nights” initiative with three special evenings on three Mondays in July (the 6th, 13th, and 20th), featuring a series of evening guided tours (at 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.—reservations required):

  •  On Monday, July 6, the Stefano Bardini Museum will host “Ancient Memories,” a themed tour accompanied by evocative music, featuring urns, portraits, sarcophagi, and monumental furnishings collected by the famous antiquarian.
  • On Monday, July 13, the Archaeological area of Palazzo Vecchio will open to the public, with guided tours designed to help visitors understand the stratification of these fascinating and grand spaces, beginning with the remains of the Roman theater of ancient Florentia.
  • On Monday, July 20, it will be Palazzo Medici Riccardi’s turn; its precious archaeological artifacts and extensive collection of marble portraits will come to life through the narrative tour “Voices and Faces of Antiquity,” inspired by the works of the great classics.

For more information and reservations, visit the MUS.E. website.

In Campi Bisenzio on Wednesday, July 8, the Gonfienti Archaeological Museum will host an evening guided tour dedicated to exploring its works and collections. Admission to the museum will be free for everyone, starting at 8:30 p.m.
The guided tour will begin at 9:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m.; participation costs 5 euros and requires a reservation. The program is currently being finalized.
