From 4 to 30 July 2025, the Sala delle Esposizioni of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno will host a retrospective exhibition of the work of Mario Nuti, one of the leading figures of classical Florentine abstractionism. The exhibition will feature a selection of pieces that illustrate the various stages of his artistic development.
Starting from the figurative painting of his youth, Mario Nuti's artistic evolution progresses through geometric abstractionism and an informal phase, finally returning to figuration in the 1960s. The return to this style is not driven by trends or ease; it is the result of a genuine investigation where light takes centre stage, playing against shadow to create static, detached figures in a state of almost Beckettian anticipation.
The exhibition is organised with the patronage of the Municipality of Florence in collaboration with Accademia delle Arti del Disegno.
The exhibition tracing the master's artistic career also celebrates the publication of the “First General Volume”, published by Pacini, dedicated to Mario Nuti, which documents his work in depth, offering the public and scholars a valuable tool for getting to know the artist.
