Exceptional opening of the Brindellone

On the occasion of the completion of the restoration of the door, the Municipality of Florence invites everyone to take part in the exceptional opening of the Brindellone, the majestic cart that is the symbol of the historic tradition of the “Scoppio del Carro.”

The presence of the "Corteo della Repubblica Fiorentina" (costumed performers of the historical parade) and a show by the flag weavers is also scheduled. This is a unique opportunity to admire the tallest door in Europe still in use for civic buildings, as well as one of the city’s most ancient symbols, and to discover up close the history and charm of a centuries-old tradition.

On this occasion, two guided tours will take place at 12:00 noon and 6:00 pm, during which explanations will be provided about the various parts of the cart and how it works. Tours are also available in English, French, and Spanish by reservation, by writing to tradizionipopolarifiorentine@comune.fi.it
