Berlin Schaubühne Theater at Teatro della Pergola

Changes, by Maja Zade, winner of the 2025 Ubu Prize for Best Foreign Production presented in Italy, will be staged at the Teatro della Pergola on 8 and 9 May 2026, directed by Thomas Ostermeier. It is a comedy about the difficulty of changing the world and the effort required not to lose oneself in the process.

The two actors play 23 roles: Nina, Mark and all the other characters the couple encounters throughout the day.

Drawing inspiration from Sophocles’ Philoctetes and the myth of Cassandra, Milo Rau—master of contemporary documentary theatre—delves into the fragility of our certainties.

Ursina Lardi plays a war photojournalist who travels the world in search of stories of horror. On video, meanwhile, is the testimony of Azad Hassan, a teacher from Mosul who was punished with the amputation of his hand during the occupation by the Islamic State.
