Medieval days at the Stibbert Museum

The Stibbert Museum and its Park

The Stibbert Museum is a truly magical place, just a few kilometres from Florence’s historic centre and away from the crowds of tourists. Conceived by Frederick Stibbert in the second half of the 19th century, it houses a unique collection of weapons and armour, as well as costumes, paintings, furnishings and decorative arts, set within a castle-villa overlooking a vast park in the Romantic style.

Medieval Days

Right here within this park, in a highly evocative setting, the Medieval Days at Stibbert will take place over the weekend of Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May, 2026. Here, in the shadow of the villa’s crenellated towers and amongst pavilions, statues and mock ruins, the atmosphere of a medieval village will be recreated almost as if by magic, thanks to spectacular battles, jesters, ancient crafts, archers, falconers and encampments. The event forms part of the celebrations to mark the 500th anniversary of the death of Giovanni delle Bande Nere, the famous captain of the first half of the 16th century and father of Cosimo I de’ Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany.
