The most spectacular film festival of the Florentine summer returns to the extraordinary setting of Piazza de’ Pitti: over 40 evenings with free admission, featuring premieres, special guests, and tributes to the masterpieces of cinema history.
Apriti Cinema celebrates its 15th edition from June 15 to July 26, with a rich program of short and feature films, documentaries, and fiction films, screened in their original language with Italian subtitles.
On the schedule: selections from Florence’s major international festivals; tributes marking the 100th anniversary of the births of Marilyn Monroe and Florestano Vancini; a program curated by the Uffizi Galleries; the “Waiting for the Fiesole Award to the Masters of Cinema” evenings featuring a retrospective dedicated to Olivier Assayas; a section dedicated to emerging directors with Sentiero Film Factory; and the “From Book to Film – Based on…, dedicated to great literary stories brought to the screen.
Among the special events is a tribute to Carlo Rambaldi featuring a screening of Steven Spielberg’s masterpiece E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, along with Cambia Uomo Cambia and many other events enriched by the presence of special guests.
