10th Edition of the Tuscan Luthier Festival | Santo Stefano al Ponte Auditorium

From 5 to 7 September 2026, the Santo Stefano al Ponte Auditorium will host three evenings of the Tuscan Luthier Festival – Concerts from the 18th to the 20th Century, an event combining great classical music with the celebration of Italy’s luthier tradition.

The first two evenings, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, will feature the Florentine Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Giovan Battista Varoli, with a programme dedicated to Johann Strauss, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Robert Schumann. The programme includes Strauss’s Der Zigeunerbaron Overture, Tchaikovsky’s lively Capriccio italiano, and Schumann’s Symphony No. 2, three works showcasing different atmospheres, rhythms and musical sensibilities of 19th-century Europe. During the concert, first violinist Marco Lorenzini will perform on an instrument made in 1974 by luthier Giuseppe Stefanini.

The third evening, Monday 7 September, will feature the Trio Florenzia, with Annalisa Garzia on violin, Leonardo Bartali on viola and Elida Pali on cello. The programme includes Franz Schubert’s String Trio No. 1 and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Divertimento K. 563. On this occasion, Leonardo Bartali will play a precious viola made by Luciano Sderci in 1973, further highlighting the connection between musical repertoire and the Italian tradition of lutherie.
