Xenia Chamber Music Course at the Niccolini Theatre: Young Talents in Dialogue Through Beethoven and Mendelssohn
Classical music, opera and ballet
The Xenia Chamber Music Course continues at the Niccolini Theatre in Florence, bringing together selected ensembles for several days of in-depth study, musical exploration and exchange on the chamber music repertoire. The programme culminates in a concert that offers audiences the opportunity to experience the results of this shared artistic journey.
The performers for this event are four young musicians from Italy and the Netherlands: Akiko Scimemi and Margriet van den Hoven on violin, Magali Duindam on viola, and Virginia Bosio on cello.
The programme features two masterpieces of the string quartet repertoire: Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 59 No. 3 and Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet Op. 12. Reflecting different eras and musical sensibilities, these works reveal both the enduring legacy of Beethoven and the distinctive voice of the young Mendelssohn.
Guiding the audience through this listening experience will be Igor Polesitsky, Xenia faculty member, and Daniel Llewellyn Roberts, Xenia’s artistic director. They will introduce the works and offer fresh perspectives on their musical nuances and the interpretative approach of the performers.
More than a concert, this event offers an opportunity to discover the world of chamber music, explore its creative processes and encounter a new generation of outstanding musicians.
Admission is free, but advance booking is required.
