Tornabuoni Arte

Active since: 1981
Areas of interest: Modern and contemporary art

Acting on his passion for art, in 1981 Roberto Casamonti opened Tornabuoni Arte in Via Tornabuoni in Florence. Over the years, the gallery has added several exhibition venues to its main location on Lungarno Cellini in Florence: in Milan (1995) and Forte dei Marmi (2004), as well as a second site in Florence (Tornabuoni Arte Antica, 2006). It has also opened galleries abroad, in Crans Montana in Switzerland (1993), Paris (2009) and London (2015). The displays of the various galleries are complemented each year by the organisation of an exhibition which aims to present a selection of great international artists of the 20th century (such as Christo, Hartung, Matta, Miró, Picasso, Poliakoff and Warhol), together with the main Italian artists who established their places in art history over the course of the 1900s (including Giacomo Balla, Alighiero Boetti, Alberto Burri, Enrico Castellani, Mario Ceroli, Giorgio de Chirico, Piero Dorazio, Lucio Fontana, Piero Manzoni, Marino Marini, Giorgio Morandi, Arnaldo Pomodoro and Paolo Scheggi).

In addition to the itinerant annual exhibition that takes place in the various venues, the gallery organises solo exhibitions of both established and emerging artists as well as thematicevents that focus on post-war avant-gardes. Tornabuoni Arte continues its efforts in presenting the works of figures who made their marks in the previous century as well as new contributions by contemporary artists (including Pablo Atchugarry, Anne Karin Furunes, Omar Galliani and Francesca Pasquali). The gallery has an annual presence at the principal contemporary art fairs, such as Fiac in Paris, TEFAF in Maastricht and New York, Art Basel in Basel, Miami Beach and Hong Kong, Frieze Masters in London, Arte Fiera in Bologna, and Miart in Milano.
