From June 25 to August 1 the Palazzo Podestarile and the Giardino della Fornace in Montelupo are hosting the exhibition called Sweet ceramics-Design and handicraft in Montelupo, curated by Silvana Annichiarico and dedicated to the art residences of ceramics and design. In the course of this summer exhibition 7 figures have met as many ceramic workshops of the area, in collaboration with the Accademia di Belle Arti students.
The exhibition presents the works that were made at the end of the Art residencies of ceramics and design 2020-2021, during which, under the artistic direction of Silvana Annicchiarico, world-class artists and designers produced works and collections directly in the workshops and firms of the territory: seven collections for seven exhibition environments, which merge in a setting inside the Palazzo Podestarile, formerly the seat of the Museo della Ceramica and currently hosting temporary exhibits, curated by Marco Ulivieri in order to recreate a space which tells of the whole design process.
Antonio Aricò, Francesco Binfaré, Lorenzo Damiani, Maurizio Galante and Tal Lacman, Duccio Maria Gambi, Valerio Sommella and Mario Trimarchi are the seven designers who came to work with local craftsmen in the artisan workshops, engaging with each other, sharing experiences, knowledge and above all visions.
Available in the autumn, and featured in the exhibition, will be a docufilm made by the IULM University of Milan and a catalogue documenting the whole project.
