Folk traditions

On February 17, 1530 in Florence, besieged by the troops of Charles V, a game of Historical Football was played to mock the enemy.

To commemorate this date event a historical parade will start from Palagio di Parte Guelfa (1.45pm) to arrive in Santa Croce square (3.30pm) where a match of Historical Football will be preceded by a performance of the Florentine flagwavers.

Before the match there will be a parade of the Florentine Republic, followed by the performance of the Uffizi Flag Wavers. The match will be played at 3:30 pm.

Departure from Palagio di Parte Guelfa h.1:45pm., Via Pellicceria, Via Porta Rossa, Mercato Nuovo, Via Vacchereccia, Piazza della Signoria, Via dei Gondi, San Firenze, Borgo dei Greci, Piazza Santa Croce.

At the end of the match, return of the historical procession to the Palagio di Parte Guelfa by the same route as the outward journey.
