Paggeria a Pratolino

Pratolino Medici Park, open to visitors!

With the arrival of spring, the Medici Park of Pratolino reopens to the public on a regular basis, from 1 April to 1 November, Friday to Sunday.

The magnificent Pratolino Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site forming part of the site  "Medici Villas and Gardens", just a few kilometres from Florence – was commissioned by Francesco I de’ Medici as a ‘Garden of Wonders’ for himself and his beloved Bianca Cappello. Later inherited by the Lorraines, who in turn adapted it to the tastes of the time, it eventually passed into the ownership of the Russian Demidoff family.

It is best known for Giambologna’s colossal statue of the Apennines (“the giant”), but its green spaces are well worth exploring, with buildings and works of art dating back to the Medici era.
It is truly a magical place to discover, thanks to its many environmental, scenic, historical and artistic features.

The Park is open, with free admission, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 10am to 8pm (April, May, August and September) and from 10am to 9pm (June and July). Also open on Monday 1 June.
