Palazzuolo Strada Aperta - IV Edizione
From 1 to 30 September 2026, Palazzuolo Strada Aperta returns to Florence: the festival dedicated to urban art on shop shutters, which year after year is transforming the San Paolino neighbourhood into an open-air gallery — permanent, accessible and free for everyone.
Now in its fourth edition, the festival brings art into the public space through the work of nine artists, invited to transform the shutters of shops along Via Palazzuolo, Via dei Canacci and Via del Porcellana.
Throughout the month, visitors will have the opportunity to watch the artworks being created live and discover the artists’ work directly in the streets. The programme also includes two free workshops, led by artists Caterina Sansone and Urto, the opening of the group exhibition “Prossemica VOL. IV”, and a series of street art tours designed to explore and provide deeper insight into the works created during the different editions of the festival.
With the new interventions planned for 2026, by the end of September the neighbourhood will be home to 53 artist-designed shutters.
A true diffused museum, coming to life when the shops close and the shutters become canvases, bringing colour, energy and new opportunities for encounters to one of the most layered and sensitive areas of Florence’s historic city centre.

The fourth edition of Palazzuolo Strada Aperta brings together nine Italian artists active on the international muralism scene: Wolsha, Geometric Bang, Giorgio Bartocci, Shekoone, Edoardo Bansone, 134127, Loste, Crisa, and ScrivimiPresto. Their practices span a wide range of visual languages, from typographic research and geometric compositions to abstraction, lettering, and graphic interventions, as well as an urban poetics that brings nature and architecture into dialogue.
The first intervention will be by Crisa, starting September 4. Throughout the month, visitors will be able to witness the transformation of the neighborhood live, one storefront shutter at a time. As in previous editions, each work is created through a dialogue between the gallery, the artist, and the local businesses, as part of a shared process rooted in the relationships and identity of the neighborhood.
On Friday, September 11, from 5:00 PM to midnight, Street Levels Gallery will open the group exhibition “Prossemica VOL. IV” at 74AR Via Palazzuolo. The exhibition will feature studio works by the artists involved in the festival, alongside works by artists who participated in previous editions. The opening will be accompanied by DJ sets by Viola Valery and Matteo Vogel.
The exhibition explores the dialogue between urban art, public space, and the gallery, highlighting the continuity between what happens in the street and the artistic research developed within exhibition spaces.
Throughout the festival, visitors can also see Marco Rèa’s solo exhibition, “Silence is,” at Street Levels Gallery’s location at 4R Via Melegnano. The exhibition will remain open until September 30.
