The waters of the Arno flood Florence, and mud pours into the headquarters of the Accademia dei Georgofili. Then comes the extraordinary mobilization of volunteers and students to save books, archives, and works of art. This is the story told by “Georgofili, November 4, 1966”, the exhibition (September 25, 2026 – December 17, 2026) hosted at the Academy’s headquarters, at the Logge degli Uffizi Corti, marking the 60th anniversary of the Florence flood.

Telling the story of those days means preserving the memory of the flood and honoring those who came together to save a cultural heritage that belongs to the entire community. Sixty years on, their story continues to speak of care, responsibility, and solidarity.
