C’era una volta… Un Re! Carlo Lorenzini detto “Collodi” tra satira, giornalismo e letteratura per l’infanzia

From 16 October 2026 to 15 June 2027, Palazzo Corsini Suarez, home to the Gabinetto Vieusseux, will host the exhibition Once Upon a Time… There Was a King! – Carlo Lorenzini, Known as “Collodi”, Between Satire, Journalism and Children’s Literature.

Curated by Elisa Martini and Benedetta Gallerin, the exhibition celebrates the bicentenary of the author’s birth and explores Collodi not only as the creator of Pinocchio, but also as a brilliant satirical journalist and a keen observer of nineteenth-century society.

Among the documents on display is Carlo Lorenzini’s original handwritten signature in the membership register of the Gabinetto Vieusseux, dated 30 June 1865, when Florence was the capital of Italy.
