50 days of cinema in Florence

Autumn is on its way, and with it comes the Florence film festival known as 50 Days of Cinema.

From 7 October to 11 December, spanning screens in different countries and geographical areas, or thematic areas, 50 Days is an unmissable event for all fans of non-mainstream cinema. 

With its headquarters at the Teatro della Compagnia, in the central Via Cavour, there are nine international film festivals, including retrospectives, short and feature films, animations and documentaries

Inaugurated with Middle East Now, whose focus was inevitably on Palestine, the programme is structured as follows:

• Oct. 15 to 19 - FánHuā Chinese Film Festival, a window on contemporary China
• Oct. 22 to 26 - International Women's Film Festival, a selection, all by women
• Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 - France Odeon, the best French cinema premiering in Florence
• Nov. 3 to 9 - Festival dei Popoli. The historic International Documentary Film Festival
• Nov. 12 to 16 - The Screen of Art Festival of cinema and contemporary art
• Nov. 26 to 30 - Florence Queer Festival, Queer stories and culture against all stereotypes
• Dec. 5 to 10 - River to River Florence Indian Film Festival, a look at Indian cinema of the past and present
• Dec. 11 the festival close with the project N.I.C.E for Irish Film Festa

A season ticket for 16 shows is available at a price of €50.
