
1st Sunday of the month, museums for free
What better time to visit one of the city's great museums? It's low season and the first Sunday of the month, 1 February, marks the return of the Domenica al Museo (Sunday at the Museum) initiative, together with Domenica Metropolitana (Metropolitan Sunday)
Sunday at the Museum
A day of free admission, with a wide range of offerings from the State Museums: you can visit the Accademia Gallery, the Uffizi Gallery, the Bargello National Museum, the Medici Chapels Museum and the Orsanmichele Complex free of charge, all without booking.
For more detailed information, please visit the Domenica al Museo website, managed by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage: remember that admission is free for everyone, both Italians and foreigners.
It means doors will be open for free in Florence to several and important museums: Uffizi Gallery, Accademia Gallery, Medici Chapels, Bargello, Pitti Palace museums and Boboli Gardens, Archaeological Museum, the Medici villas of Castello and Petraia.
Metropolitan Sunday
This initiative is only for residents of the Metropolitan City. On the first Sunday of the month, residents of the Metropolitan City can enter all the Civic Museums of Florence, the Memorial of Deportations, the MAD Murate Art District and Palazzo Medici Riccardi free of charge.
The programme includes numerous themed guided tours and visits to the exhibitions currently on display at the various museums.
