On 4 and 5 September 2026, the Medieval Festival at the Castle, now in its twenty-ninth year, will once again bring the streets, squares, courtyards and alleyways of the ancient village of Signa to life.
Once again this year, from the opening at 6.00 pm until the festivities draw to a close late in the evening at midnight, visitors will be able to watch processions of characters in period costume, enjoy theatrical performances, be captivated by medieval music and dance, and be enthralled by the performances of street artists and stilt-walkers.
In particular, visitors will be able to watch the parade of Signa’s prestigious Historical Procession and the archery displays for the Palio dei quattro popoli di Signa. In addition to this, there will be medieval-inspired games of skill and dexterity. Visitors will also be able to witness faithful historical re-enactments of a number of ancient, now-forgotten trades.
Finally, at the numerous food stalls, just as in medieval taverns and inns, visitors will be able to sample the dishes and drinks enjoyed by the ancient inhabitants of Signa, some of which have now been forgotten or fallen out of use. Admission is free for everyone.
