From November 29, 2025, to January 9, 2026, the State Archives in Florence will host the exhibition Rossana Rossanda. The Girl of the Twentieth Century. The exhibition traces Rossana Rossanda's life from her birth to the founding of “il manifesto” and her subsequent expulsion from the Italian Communist Party in 1969. After being staged in Venice, Rome, Milan, and Bologna, the Florentine leg of the exhibition will feature letters, images, and unpublished documents preserved in her archive.

The section “Letters, images, and documents” not only documents events, encounters, and places, but also follows the thread of the autobiography La ragazza del secolo scorso (The Girl of the Last Century), published by Einaudi in 2005, focusing on subsequent moments in her life as a militant and intellectual, in a thematic journey that intertwines personal and political dimensions.

Exhibitions

The exhibition, promoted by the State Archives of Florence and the “Alessandra Contini Bonacossi” Association for Women's Memory and Writing, is divided into two parts: on the walls, panels from the photo-documentary exhibition created in 2024 by lveser (Venetian Institute for the History of Resistance and Contemporary Society) on the occasion of the centenary of Rossanda's birth and a selection of papers from the Rossanda Fund acquired in 2021 by the State Archives of Florence in accordance with her will.

The opening of the exhibition will be preceded by speeches by Paola d'Orsi, Rosalia Manno, Daniela Fattori, and Giulia Albanese.

January 9: presentations by Filippo Magni, Luigi Luporini, Giuseppe Ferrulli, and Anna Marson, introduced and coordinated by Doriana Ricci
