The Berlin Schaubühne Theatre alla Pergola

The Berlin Schaubühne Theatre—one of the largest ensemble and repertory theatres in Berlin, and among the most prestigious in the German-speaking world—will be performing at the Teatro della Pergola in German, with English and Italian surtitles.

On May 8th and 9th, Changes by Maja Zade, directed by Thomas Ostermeier, will be staged, starring Jörg Hartmann and Anna Schudt. On May 23rd and 24th, it will be the turn of The Seer, written and directed by Milo Rau, featuring Ursina Lardi and Azad Hassan.

The Seer

Theatre

Inspired by Sophocles' Philoctetes and the myth of Cassandra, Milo Rau, an international master of contemporary documentary theater, delves into the fragility of our certainties.

Ursina Lardi, Leone d'Argento at the 2025 Venice Biennale Teatro, plays a war photojournalist who travels the world in search of horror stories. The video, meanwhile, features the testimony of Azad Hassan, a teacher from Mosul whose hand was amputated during the Islamic State occupation.
