Danielle McKinney at the Museo Novecento

Through February 28, the acclaimed American painter Danielle McKinney is exhibiting 20 paintings, in dialogue with various works from the Museo Novecento’s permanent collection.

Portrayed in moments of suspended intimacy, McKinney’s female figures emerge from the darkness, inviting the viewer to draw closer in an attempt to uncover their inner worlds—worlds of absorbed solitude and profound introspection. Starting out as a photographer, Danielle McKinney has established herself in recent years as one of the most important artists in contemporary painting. In this skillfully curated museum exhibition, her twenty canvases engage in a dialogue not only with works by Giorgio Morandi, Felice Casorati, and Arturo Martini (from the Museo Novecento’s Della Ragione Collection), but also with an anthology of poems written by contemporary American women poets, selected by Elisa Biagini, a poet and translator.

The exhibition was curated by Sergio Risaliti and Stefania Rispoli. For full details, see the event page.
