From 17 October 2026 to 28 February 2027, the Museo Novecento in Florence presents Danielle Mckinney. Among Us, the first exhibition in Florence dedicated to the American artist, who was named by TIME as one of the 100 most influential figures in the art world in 2026.
Curated by Sergio Risaliti and Stefania Rispoli, the exhibition brings together 20 works, including several previously unseen pieces, in dialogue with paintings and sculptures from the Alberto Della Ragione Collection. Through rich colours, striking contrasts of light and shadow, and suspended atmospheres, Mckinney portrays women immersed in solitude and quiet introspection, creating images with a strong cinematic quality.
The exhibition places her paintings in conversation with works by leading Italian masters of the twentieth century, including Arturo Martini, Felice Casorati, Giorgio Morandi and Filippo de Pisis, exploring themes of light, space and the human figure. A selection of poetic texts by Lucille Clifton, Louise Glück and June Jordan, curated by poet Elisa Biagini, completes the exhibition, creating a dialogue between painting and poetry.
