Florentia – History of perfumes and essences

City of Florence Guide Antonella Lodolini will show you an amazing time, leading you through the history of perfumes in Renaissance Florence and introducing you to an important character: Caterina, inventor of the Acqua della Regina (the Queen’s Water), created in the ancient “Spezieria” of Santa Maria Novella.

The meeting point is in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, by the obelisk, and the itinerary will start from Santa Maria Novella Pharmacy, where you will have a “taste” of Renaissance essences, including the Queen’s Water.

Next will be the turn of SS. Annunziata Pharmacy, the second most ancient pharmacy in town, where the participants will get the chance to test home fragrances inspired by the 7 guilds of Florence. And last but not least, you’ll head to Officina dei Tornabuoni, also rich in history and tradition.
