From August 9 to September 18 2026, the Diotto festivities return to Scarperia which celebrates the birth of Scarperia, founded on September 7 1306, combining it with the “die octo” (eighth day) of September, feast day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Even this year, the events accompanied by the Flag-wavers and Musicians of Castel San Barnaba culminate with the Paliorace on September 8, which is meant to remember the investiture of the Vicegerent who was appointed every 6 months by the Signoria di Firenze.
