The name Museum of Santa Verdiana indicates the close link between the Museum, the Sanctuary and the Saint who is the symbol of Castelfiorentino.
The museum is housed in an ancient rustic structure, called the Casalone - adjacent to the Sanctuary of Santa Verdiana - which houses a rich heritage of paintings, statues, manuscripts and silverware from the Sanctuary and the local churches.
The symbol of the Museum is the cuspidate table with gold background representing Santa Verdiana, the oldest example of the iconography of the Saint and the Madonna with Child attributed to Cimabue.
Other interesting works from the same period are attributed to Corso di Buono and Taddeo Gaddi, while in the room dedicated to Florentine painting stands the Madonna with Child and Saints by Francesco Granacci.
On the upper floor it is possible to admire the furnishings, the precious goldsmiths and the refined fabrics originally preserved in the Sanctuary.
