Fornaciai Art Gallery is located at Borgo San Jacopo 53/r in the heart of Florence’s historic centre, close to Via Maggio, the famous street of antiques dealers. From 1998 to 2007, it had a display space in Pietrasanta in the province of Lucca, where it organised important exhibitions of artists such as Filippo De Pisis and Mario Sironi. The gallery’s current name was chosen at the end of 2017 as a tribute to its founder, Piero Fornaciai, who established the historic Galleria Tornabuoni at Via Tornabuoni 74 in December 1956. The gallery moved to its current location in Borgo San Jacopo in the first years of the new millennium. With the choice of this family name, the Fornaciai Art Gallery intends to foreground the perfect continuity with its past and with the experience acquired on the modern and contemporary art market, both in Italy and abroad, over the course of six decades.

The work of Piero is indeed carried forth today by his son Fabio and grandson Gregorio. Since its beginnings, the gallery has offered an interesting display space in the context of the city’s artistic and cultural offerings; over a short period of time, it has managed to specialise in paintings and artistic graphics, bringing a number of important pieces to Florence, including works of the best-known Italian and foreign names in the world of art. Among the exhibitions organised by the gallery figure some key names: Giuseppe Capogrossi, Georges Braque, René Magritte, Marino Marini, Filippo De Pisis, Mario Sironi, Sergio Sarri and Zao Wou-Ki. Today Fabio Fornaciai runs the gallery, having taken over in the 1980s. On the strength of his enthusiasm and entrepreneurship, he continues to offer the public artists who have taken their places in art history as well as new emerging ones.
