La "Sala delle Eroine", inside the Town Hall of Pontassieve, houses the cycle of frescoes by Ferdinando Folchi, a Florentine painter of the 1800s. He was entrusted by the Sansoni Trombetta family to create a series of works dedicated to heroic deeds of women who lived in 1500.
These are eight great paintings that tell heroic deeds performed by Italian women. The origin of the frescoes and the particular choice to portray female subjects is very interesting and, thanks to the valuable work of scholars and researchers, it is now possible to know the events of the heroines that are depicted and the motivations that moved the client, Giovan Battista Trombetta to choose as the main subjects of the women protagonists of valiant deeds.
