Porta Aretina (also known as the Clock Tower) is the only one of the three gates of the historical center that has maintained much of the original structure of the 13th-century fortification.
It represented the westward access of the ancient Castel Sant'Angelo built in 1357 by the Florentine Republic. The interior can be visited and the crowning of rectangular wreath has remained unchanged.
