The Verrazzano Castle is located on top of a hill in the area between Florence and Siena, in the heart of the Chianti Classico territory, the first production area in the world delimited by the official announcement of Cosimo III de' Medici in 1716.
The history of this settlement is very long: the first mention of the estate dates back to the 12th century and here, in 1485, was the birthplace of Giovanni da Verrazzano, the discoverer of the New York bay and New World explorer.
The 230 hectares estate, remained unaltered within its borders for nearly 1000 years, has 52 hectares of vineyard at an altitude between 260 and 420 metres a.s.l., on a rocky ground, rich in limestone.
