Giacomo Puccini's opera "Turandot" will be staged from 21 April at the Teatro del Maggio. Conductor and Maestro Concertatore Zubin Metha, directed by Zhang Yimou, Orchestra and Chorus of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
The opera debuted on 25 April 1926 at the Teatro alla Scala, conducted by Arturo Toscanini who, following the last notes written by Puccini, put down his baton and refused to continue.
