Teatro Studio Krypton

Krypton theatre’s mission deals with the exploration of technologies and their application on the stage and in the arts. It is an interdisciplinary attitude that involves the world of theatre as well as those of architecture and visual arts, with an eye to digital investigation as a need, a response to its own identity.

Since the eighties, Krypton’s director, Giancarlo Cauteruccio, worked on special projects under the sign of technological experimentation with radically innovative creations, seizing the impulse of postmodernism, both in terms of theatrical language and in terms of electronic instruments applied to the body action. In all his experiments, he kept a vigilant focus on the most advanced art practices and went on exploring new dimensions in the theatre.

For 20 years, the company's permanent headquarters have been at the Teatro Studio in Scandicci and there Cauteruccio founded a permanent workshop dedicated to the introduction of digital technologies on the stage, from the performing arts to its contamination with architecture and visual art, poetry and music. In the last 2 years, the investigation on the interdisciplinary nature of the arts has continued through workshops aimed at practical projects of cultural interventions in urban areas, such as historical squares and contemporary unconventional spaces.

Since 2014, he established a permanent experimental workshop at Teatro Studio di Scandicci in collaboration with Dida-Department of Architecture (University of Florence) and gave life to the exhibition In the Cloister of Geometries created in the cloister of Santa Verdiana Church, head office of the University Department.
