The Municipal Vallesiana Library is located along the main street of the high old town, in a historic building dating back to the 18th century. It was inaugurated on 17th of November 1889 with a solemn speech by Orazio Bacci, whose bas-relief effigy still dominates the main entrance door; next to the main body today's building sees a special section dedicated to young readers, the "Giardino Segreto".
The cultural heritage contained among the shelves is due to a large testamentary bequest by Francesco Vallesi, to whom the library was named, about 3000 volumes from his private collection and for his express wish to make them accessible to the community.
