Oliveto Castle was built in 1424, at the behest of Puccio Pucci, probably on a project by Filippo Brunelleschi who in those years was also involved in the construction of the dome of the Duomo in Florence.
The nobleman of the Pucci family wanted a fortified villa to guard his possessions, as well as to be used as a refuge for times of political instability and country residence.
The history of the Castle is full of battles, but also of famous and excellent guests who from here enjoyed the wonderful landscape and stayed in its prestigious rooms, including the three Popes: Leo X de 'Medici, Clemente VII de' Medici and Paolo III Farnese, but also the King of Italy Emanuele III and General Clark of the American V Army.
Nowadays, the Castle is at the center of an efficient and modern farm that has relaunched its characteristic hospitality, a destination for agritourism holidays, and the typical production of wines and oil.
It is also an ideal place for weddings, ceremonies, photo shoots and typical products' tasting.
