Villa Corsini a Mezzomonte, Impruneta

Villa Corsini a Mezzomonte

Villa Corsini a Mezzomonte, in the municipality of Impruneta, has a very ancient history: born around the year 1000 as a fortified farm and owned for a short period of time by Lorenzo il Magnifico, in the 16th century it was turned into a Renaissance noble residence, thanks to the Panciatichi family. The building, nestled in the Tuscan countryside, today has a turrett in the middle and a plastered facade dotted by windows framed in pietra serena.

In the 17th century the property was bought by Giovan Carlo de'Medici, brother of Grand Duke Ferdinando II and, thanks to him, the interior of the villa was lavishly frescoed by some of the main painters who worked in Florence in the 17th century, including Giovanni da San Giovanni, Cecco Bravo and Passignano.

In 1644 the villa came into the hands of the Corsini family, the current owners, who created most of the outer gardens and the chapel dedicated to Saint Andrea Corsini, inside the building.

The villa and its gardens are currently open and accessible only on the occasion of events and happenings.
