Guido Bartolozzi Antichità s.r.l. unipersonale

Active since: 1887
Areas of interest: Antiques, sculpture

Established in 1887 by great-grandfather Guido Bartolozzi, the gallery was located at Via Maggio 18/r from its founding until 2014, in, that is, what has been considered the ‘street of the antique dealers’ since the 19th century. Since 2014, the gallery has been at number 11 of the same street, in Palazzo Michelozzi, which great-grandfather Guido purchased in 1922 and which is still owned by the family today. Four generations have followed one another in these locations and in this business, which has always taken an interest – in its own eclectic way – in the great vast world of antiques from the 15th to the 19th centuries. The gallery has always been in search of artistic expression and beauty, aiming to follow successive variations in taste and to intuit the desires of the amateurs and dealers who have always accompanied it on its journey into the world of culture and refinement. It has continuously been on the lookout for rare and significant objects, a process which has stimulated historical and artistic research.

The gallery is known and appreciate nationally and internationally, thanks to the efforts and guidance of Guido Bartolozzi, the founder’s grandson who from 1963 worked together with his own son Massimo, the sole proprietor of the business today. Massimo has participated in the most renowned national and international exhibitions, including Gotha in Parma, the Mostra dell’Antiquariato in Milan and Turin, the Biennale dell’Antiquariato in Palazzo Venezia in Rome, MINT in the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, and the Florence International Antiques Fair. Today, his participation is requested by every organisation at fairs and any other art event. His collaboration is sought by many publishers of art volumes and antiques journals for contributions and interviews, including Cairo Editore’s Antiquariato and Condè Nast’s AD Antiques. Guido Bartolozzi Antichità has been a member of the Italian Antiquarians Association (AAI) since its foundation and of CINOA (International Federation of Associations of Art and Antiques Dealers). Massimo Bartolozzi is certified as an expert in the province of Florence and takes part in assessments for the Court of Florence.
