I was asked to work in the business’s main shop after being exposed to the experience of my motherin- law Nada Funaro, who together with Gianna Nunziati founded and managed Antichità Il Cartiglio, a gallery which specialised in Gothic and Renaissance sculpture. By that time I had performed my apprenticeship in her gallery Paradigma, which dealt in 20th-century art. As I was born in the Apuan Alps, I have always been attracted to the world of sculpture, in particular to works in marble; I therefore thought it natural to pursue my career in this direction. As the years went by, I extended the gallery’s offerings to include Baroque, Neo-classical and 20th-century sculpture, in the hope of attracting a greater number of collectors and customers. My shop also contains a small quantity of antique paintings, furniture and antique objects, as well as a modest selection of drawings and books.
