The castle is located in Santa Brigida, a village near Pontassieve, and its original nucleus dates back to the 12th century. It was owned by the Pazzi family until the end of the 15th century when, following the conspiracy ordered by the family to assassinate Lorenzo the Magnificent, it was confiscated by the Medici and only later returned to the Pazzi family, who owned it until the 18th century.
The imposing structure is built around a 15th-century courtyard, and on either side of the walls stand two square towers, partially still supported by brackets.
The castle, now owned by the Baj Macario family, is a winery and accommodation facility.
