Edocēre medicos. History of medico-surgical training in Florence

One hundred years after the official birth of the University of Florence and one hundred years after the first patients entered the Careggi Hospital, a special exhibition tells the story of medical-surgical training in Florence through the centuries.

Edocēre medicos, this is the title of the exhibition, is scheduled from 22 March to 21 June 2024 at the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana in Florence.

Edocēre medicos. History of medico-surgical training in Florence

The exhibition is structured as a journey that begins in 1321 with the Studium - which included medicine among its teaching subjects - and crosses the ages to the present day through the codices of the Laurenziana and the volumes - incunabula, cinquecentine, books and manuscripts - of the historical fund of the University's Biomedical Library, coming from the Hospital of Santa Maria Nuova.
