Festa degli omaggi - Festival of Gifts
The "Festa degli Omaggi" is a time-honoured event that has been taking place at Christmas time for more than a thousand years; its aim is to wish well and celebrate both the religious and temporal power in Florence.
The "Corteo della Repubblica Fiorentina" parade, in Renaissance costume, leaves from the Palagio di Parte Guelfa, seat of the parade itself and heads towards Piazza San Giovanni where the greeting is addressed to His Eminence the Archbishop of Florence in front of the door of the seat of the Archbishopric.
Passing through the streets of the old town the parade reaches the courtyard by Michelozzo in Palazzo Medici Riccardi, seat of the Prefecture and the Metropolitan City, for the traditional Christmas and New Year's greetings to the delegate of the Metropolitan City and the Prefect of Florence.
The entire parade of the army of the Corteo della Repubblica Fiorentina, concludes its greeting to the city Authorities in Palazzo Vecchio, in the ancient Salone dei Cinquecento hall, where it arrives in the late afternoon.

4:15pm – starting from Piazzetta di Parte Guelfa, Via Pellicceria, Via Porta Rossa, Via Calimala, Piazza della Repubblica, via Roma, Piazza San Giovanni.
4:30pm – Piazza San Giovanni – Greeting and Homage to H.E. Cardinal Giuseppe Betori Archbishop of Florence; continuation towards Via Martelli, Via Cavour, up to Palazzo Medici Riccardi.
4:45pm – Arrival in Palazzo Medici Riccardi – Greetings and Homage to the Prefect, Dr. Francesca Ferrandino and the Councilor delegated to Civil Defense and Tourism of the Metropolitan City of Florence, then continuation to Via Martelli , Piazza del Duomo.
5:00 p.m. - Arrival at Palazzo Sagrati Strozzi - Greeting and Homage to the President of the Tuscany Region Dr. Eugenio Giani
After the greeting to the authorities, the parade will start again from Via Cavour, passing through Via Martelli, Piazza del Duomo, Via Calzaiuoli and will reach Piazza della Signoria.
5:50pm – Arrival into the Salone dei Cinquecento hall in Palazzo Vecchio
6:00pm – Greeting ceremony and Homage to the Mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella
6:15pm – Return to the Palagio di Parte Guelfa from Piazza della Signoria, through Via Vacchereccia, Por Santa Maria, Mercato Nuovo, Via Porta Rossa, Via Pellicceria, Piazzetta di Parte Guelfa.
