Cultura (im)materiale of Jakkai Siributr

Exhibitions

From October 23, 2025, to January 18, 2026, the Cultura (im)materiale exhibition by Jakkai Siributr, held at the MAD Murate Art District and the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology in Florence, marks the artist's first solo show in Italy and the third year of collaboration between the two institutions. Jakkai Siributr, a Thai artist known for his work with fabric, uses techniques such as embroidery, sewing, and quilting. The exhibition explores two directions of his artistic practice: the material, with tapestries and embroidered garments, and the immaterial, represented by artifacts that preserve traditional textile practices at risk of extinction.

Exhibitions

The project is divided into three paths. At the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology, the artist engages with Galileo Chini, an Italian artist connected to Thailand, exhibiting a site-specific garment and part of the work Transient Shelter (2014), which reflects on life, death, matter, and spirit. At MAD, for the first time in Italy, a selection of tapestries, garments, and installations created by Jakkai from 2014 to the present are displayed.
