Atlas of the new world

Atlas of the new world

At the MAD Murate Art District (in the  former prison complex), until February 8, an interesting exhibition and photographic project  on the devastating effects of climate change in the world, by Giulia Piermartiri and Edoardo Delille.

Divided between the Sala delle Vetrate and the ground floor of the ancient prison, the exhibition alternates photographs and videos of different geographical areas - witnessing the rising seas in the Maldives, the fires in California, the retreat of the Mont Blanc glaciers, the extreme droughts in Mozambique - making dialogue between the current state and future, apocalyptic scenarios based on the studies of leading climatology experts. Not just a simple exhibition, therefore, but also an invitation to greater awareness and a warning to understand the need for urgent action, including radical political choices.

Atlas of the New World is also a book (an editorial project with scientific and narrative texts by scholars and researchers, including Stefano Mancuso), which will be presented on 15 January at 5.30 p.m. also at the MAD Murate Art District.

The visit to the exhibition and the event on 15 January can be an opportunity to learn more about the history and secrets of the ancient Murate Complex. For further information: info.mad@musefirenze.it
