Atlas of the new world

Exhibitions

The project, on view from December 4, 2025 to February 8, 2026 at MAD Murate Art District, explores—through an immersive and engaging approach—extreme climate conditions around the world, from the Maldives to Europe, from California to China, from Mozambique to Russia, in search of traces of ongoing climate change. Photographers Giulia Piermartiri and Edoardo Delille use an innovative technique to merge today’s landscapes with projections of their climate-altered future, creating images that are surreal yet urgent.

The authors’ shots, which earned them the prestigious Amilcare Ponchielli Award for this very project, portray places undergoing transformations linked to human activity. Through a play of projections and flash, they superimpose the present reality onto its future counterpart, creating a temporal hybrid—an instant of insight in which the future becomes visible. Each image is both a work of art and a stern warning, prompting viewers to reflect on their role in shaping the world’s future.

Atlas of the New World

Exhibitions

The photographers, Giulia Piermartiri (1990, Porto Sant’Elpidio, Fermo, Italy) and Edoardo Delille (1974, Florence, Italy), work mainly in documentary photography and portraiture. Their stories have been published in national and international outlets. After focusing their research on the southern border of the United States, they decided to concentrate on the impending developments of climate change.
