From January to June 2026, the Istituto de’ Bardi in Florence hosts ASTRA CODEX, a textile art exhibition by Daniele Davitti at Palazzo Capponi, curated by Lavinia Pini. Trained between Polimoda and the Bunka Fashion College in Osaka, Davitti has focused exclusively on textile art and embroidery since 2019, earning international recognition, including selection for the 2024 Contextile Biennale and inclusion in the Homo Faber Guide.

The exhibition consists in twelve zodiac-inspired panels reimagined as anthropomorphic figures, alongside insights into the creative process. The works will later form a single folding screen, embodying the dialogue between tradition and contemporary innovation. Guided tours by Città Nascosta will further connect the artworks to the city through themed urban itineraries.

Each of Davitti’s works is the result of exceptional technical mastery: entirely hand-embroidered with white and gold threads on antique fabrics dyed in antique pink, the panels are further embellished with freshwater pearls and crystals. The series celebrates the centuries-old bond between Florence and astrology, referencing iconic sites such as San Miniato al Monte and the Fountain of Neptune. Alongside the panels, the exhibition includes a section devoted to the creative process, featuring preparatory drawings and a making-of video.
