Florence pet friendly!

If you are coming to Florence with your four-legged friend here you will find all the information you need in order to make your visit as easy and enjoyable as possible.

In the streets

Florence is a very livable city, the city-center, an open air museum, is mostly pedestrian, making it really easy to explore all the beautiful neighborhoods of Florence with your pet. To avoid unpleasant situations don’t forget to use a leash and to pick up after your pet.

In Florence you can find gardens equipped with dog areas. Check out this link for the list.

In museums

Unfortunately, pets (even small-sized ones) are not allowed in museums or churches. If you need a professional pet-sitter, there are plenty of companies and professionals offering their services. You can try browsing on Tuscan Hound, Petme Firenze o a Bau - Circolo delle Coccole.

The Botanical Garden, very central, and the Parco Mediceo di Pratolino, about 10 km from the city, can instead be visited with pets on a leash.

On public transportation

Your pet can, of course, ride with you on public transportation, but only with a leash and muzzle. If you intend to take a taxi, remember to communicate in advance that your pet will be traveling with you (not all taxi riders accept pets onboard).

Where to sleep

If you are searching for a place to sleep, we advise you to always start by contacting the hotel before making a reservation. To help you in your research try and give a look at our website ('where to sleep' > pets welcome) or at Toscana Pet Friendly and check hotel regulations.

In case of emergency

In case of emergency there are veterinarians which are open h24; if you have lost your pet, you can call this number : +39 055 3283333 (Polizia Municipale).

We wish you a pleasant and safe stay in Florence with your pet!
