Discover another Florence

Discover another Florence

Free guided tours, unusual and off-the-beaten-track itineraries (also in the countryside), inclusive and accessible proposals for everyone, promotion of local crafts, etc. There are many projects that the Municipality of Florence, following a public call for tenders and thanks to an important funding from the Ministry of Tourism ("Great Italian Destinations for Sustainable Tourism" site in Italian), is promoting for an increasingly sustainable tourism, also in terms of delocalisation and deseasonalisation of flows. More in detail, the measures of the Call for Proposals envisage various declinations of our destination: Unusual Florence, Out of Season, Accessible, Green & Clean, and other projects to enhance the urban fabric. Here is a summary of some of the projects in progress or about to start: Tram-e d'arte: a tourist project using the Tramvia as a means of transport to discover a lesser-known Florence (the districts of Isolotto, Novoli and beyond), thanks to a rich programme of free guided tours. Ti racconto Firenze: 31 free guided tours (from 10 March to 21 June) to discover another Florence; thematic routes (between music and literature, collecting and antiques) in the city's five districts.

Accessible Florence: s series of free guided tours for disabled persons, starting from March 4.

The events of the war in the last years of WW2 1943- 1944 are the issue of these itineraries. Passeggiate nella Firenze della Liberazione ( Walks through the Liberation of Florence). These itineraries have been organised by the Tuscan Historical Institute of the Resistance in collaboration with Regola d'Arte Cultural Association. The walks start on 26 May, with two different destinations, then two appointments in June and three in September. Full programme on the event page, booking required by e-mail.
